Full-time occupation: Singer for R&B band Say Uncle

Former Occupation: Fixing up houses; realtor

Current décor style of Crib: “Brothel. I think it is from one
of my former lives.”

Color of kitchen walls: “Tobacco; it’s from years of kitchen dirt.”

Biggest disaster in the kitchen: “I cooked a Thanksgiving dinner here
before, that was a success. Earlier this week I cooked peanut butter cookies
with my seven-year-old cousin. We mixed in chocolate chips. I wouldn’t say that
they were a total disaster. The dog seemed to like them; she ate half of them.
I made a mean potato salad from the potatoes out there.” [Points to a garden]
“The back 40.” (She then hands me a jar of pickled tuna with peppers.)

Dog’s special place in the Crib: “Sasha? She has a sofa at the foot
of my bed. People really like my dog. She’s more like a cat than a dog–agile
and lean.”

Skeletons in the Crib’s closets: “I circulate most things out.
I don’t keep my clothes.”

Favorite place in Crib to drink your tea in the morning or beer in the
evening
: “All beverages are consumed on the porch.”

Do your neighbors ever complain about you? “One time they did. My boyfriend
at the time and a friend from high school came over. I started reminiscing with
music and shots of tequila. We got rather loud, and the music was blaring, and
the phone kept ringing. In the morning, I had a message from a neighbor. I don’t
think I ever looked her in the eye again.”

Does she still live nearby? “She moved away. Big surprise!”
