The midterm election is less than a week away, and voter turnout in Oregon is up by 124,056 ballots compared to this time in the last midterm election.

According to a news release from Oregon Secretary of State Dennis Richardsonโ€™s office, the ballot tally at the end of yesterday, Tuesday Oct. 30, stood at 657,480. Thatโ€™s significantly more than the 533,424 ballots turned in at this point in the 2014 midterms.

Richardsonโ€™s office credited the spike in early turnout to population growth and increased voter registration. Itโ€™s worth noting that about the same percentage of voters have turned in their ballots at this point as they did in previous midtermsโ€”but there are a lot more registered voters in Oregon now.

If you arenโ€™t among the 24 percent of Oregon voters who have already turned in their ballots, you can do so any time before 8 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

And if you’re looking for advice on which bubbles to scribble in on your ballot, look no further than the Mercury‘s own election guide.
