GOOD MORNING, PORTLAND! Pumpin’ up the volume, breakin’ down’ to the beat. Cruisin’ through the west side, we’ll be checkin’ the scene. LET’S GO TO PRESS.

More countries are grounding Boeing’s 737 Max 8 jets following recent crashes, but not the US—could it be because the CEO has a chummy relationship with the Trump administration and the FAA? (That’s not really a rhetorical question.)

RELATED: A Boeing 737 Max 8 pilot has said that the plane’s flight manual “is inadequate and almost criminally insufficient.” (Guys: Call the airline, check your plane.)

Fifty people (including actress Felicity Huffman) have been charged in the terribly named “Operation Varsity Blues” sting which caught rich people bribing officials, forging documents, and downright cheating to get their kids into fancy schools. (Anyone who wants to join my new political “Guillotine Party,” please write to me at this paper.)

Trump crime family member Paul Manafort is about to face his second sentencing on conspiracy charges today, and hopefully it won’t be another bullshit slap on the wrist.

Another Tucker Carlson audio leak has dropped, this one has him making lots of sexist, misogynist comments along with a joke about having sex with a teenage beauty pageant contestant. (I can see why Republicans love this guy.)

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page—who you may remember got dragged for exchanging anti-Trump texts with her FBI boyfriend—defended her actions in a transcript from last year’s GOP investigation, saying that top brass also said mean things about Hillary Clinton, but that didn’t stop them from doing their jobs.

IN LOCAL NEWS: At a public meeting last night, around 100 people showed up to push back on ODOT’s plan to expand I-5 in the Rose Quarter.

Today in “GOTCHA, SHITHEAD”: A Proud Boy has been arrested by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s office for an alleged assault last June in Portland. HEY “TINY” TOESE, YOU’RE NEXT!

Now let’s check in on the WEATHER: A mostly dry day today with a high of 50!

And finally, OH SHIT, IT’S THE COPS!

Next week on Live PD

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)
