Good morning, Portland! Here’s a hot travel tip I picked up over my weekend: Don’t order shrimp tacos in Indiana.

Here are the headlines.

Get That Money: Oregon Democrats passed their top priority of the year yesterday: a new corporate tax bill that will provide much-needed cash for K-12 education. They had to sacrifice stricter vaccine requirements and gun control to do it, thanks to the small but apparently powerful Republican senate contingent.

Pot Cash for Cops: Remember when Oregon legalized cannabis, and then Portland passed a city cannabis sales tax to help right all the wrong that came from decades of criminalization that disproportionately affected Black people? Well, turns out that sales tax is doing more to help cops than anyone else.

Made in China: The Trump administration plans to ramp up tariffs on imported goods from China, as the trade war continues. As a result of this war, “The reputation of U.S. companies as reliable suppliers has also taken a hit,” one member of the U.S.-China Business Council in Beijing tells NPR.

Rotten Apple: The Supreme Court is allowing a major antitrust lawsuit against Apple—brought by four iPhone users who complain Apple has a monopoly on the market—to proceed. And speaking of antitrust laws and monopolies…

ICYMI: Chris Hughes—who co-founded Facebook during his time as Mark Zuckerberg’s Harvard roommate—penned a New York Times op-ed last week arguing that the government ought to break up Facebook, which he says has dangerous, unprecedented power. Predictably, Zuckerberg and the rest of Facebook do not agree.

Surprise! There’s a new bill in the US House that would make it illegal for emergency rooms to surprise patients with unexpected additional charges. And it’s got bipartisan support, which means this thing could actually pass!

Yikes: Eurovision, the delightfully cheesy international pop music competition that brought us ABBA in 1974, has kicked off its annual run. Here’s the thing: this year’s go-around is taking place in Israel, which means the pop is forced to become political.

Go Off, Liz: Elizabeth Warren is mincing no words when explaining why she won’t do a town hall on Fox News—in short, she’s calling it a “hate-for-profit” business—and I’m here for it.
