As if the summer ’19 live music calendar wasn’t crazy enough, PDX Pop Now!, one of Portland’s only remaining free and all-ages music festivals, just dropped their lineup. Going down on July 20 and 21, the bill for the 16th annual fest is one of the more fire ones I’ve seen in recent years, with a balanced mix of high-quality artists and various genres being represented. There will be lots of hip-hop (Epp, Danny Sky, Raquel Divar), soul music (Brown Calculus, Adebisi), plus indie-rock outfit Cry Babe, and surf-rockers Plastic Cactus, Gaytheist, and much more.

Every year, right smack in the middle of summer, PDX Pop Now! takes over the underbelly of the Hawthorne bridge (at SE 2nd and Madison), setting up several stages and a beer garden for two full days of local live music that welcomes concertgoers well into the late-night hours. It’s always free, always entertaining, and provides a great excuse to eat cajun macaroni at Le Bistro Montage afterward.
