Edgefield Ghost Tour
Built in 1911, the property that is now McMenamins Edgefield was originally the Multnomah County Poor Farm, an institution for the area’s impoverished, ill, and elderly. It housed hundreds of inmates, as they were then called, and that terminology alone hints at the difficult conditions under which residents lived. By 1985, the property was all but abandoned and destined for demolition—until the McMenamins brothers purchased the historic site and transformed it into a hotel, winery, brewery, and entertainment destination. The property’s long and often troubled history has inspired countless ghost stories and reports of hauntings. Room 215, known as the “Amazing Grace” room, is said to have a pentagram that mysteriously appears on the floor. In the winery and former infirmary, visitors have reported sightings of ghostly nurses walking the halls, while front-desk staff have taken to keeping logs where guests and employees can document paranormal activity. Take this seasonal tour to learn more about the haunted history of the property. BRI BREY
