If you’re anything like me, politics is really eating into your “Gossip Girl” and “Smallville” watching time. Nowadays I spend at least an hour or two a night watching political punditry and my current fave? The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC (9 pm). A regular fixture on Air America and Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Rachel’s new show packs plenty of useful lefty info with just the right mix of snarkilicious sarcasm. Take a look at this clip from last night, when Rachel calls bullshit big time on Sarah Palin’s continuing lies about Troopergate.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. I find Rachel Maddow incredibly abrasive but I still enjoyed her filling in for Keith when he was out.

I find what Palin is doing to be Orwellian and terrifying.

A reporter from Alaska and moderator of a few of her debates in her campaign for governor was on Fresh Air yesterday. It was interesting hearing from a reporter that has covered her for years versus everyone else that has covered her for 7 years. All in all, he reaffirmed that she’s grossly under-qualified, has poor ethics, let her husband help shape policy, and that since she signed on with McCain she has become very partisan. I guess she was well known and respected in Alaska for reaching across the aisle. But now, not so much.
