There has been yet another change in direction for local bar chain
Blitz, with locations in the Pearl and Southeast Portland’s
Ladd’s Addition. After a move to polish up the sports bars by changing
menus, injecting lounge-like class, and dampening the sporting
atmosphere, owners have decided that the new sheen was too much of a
good thing. They have begun to revamp both locations back into
sports bars, a change that included the firing of a five-person
management team that had been brought on to oversee the initial image
makeover. This is Blitz’s second such management shakeup in less than a
year.
Kenny and Zuke’s brand-new sandwich shop SandwichWorks on NW Thurman has hit its stride. The beginning of summer finds the
shop with outdoor seating, a selection of beer and wine, and a new
happy hour Monday through Friday, 3-6 pm, featuring $1.50 PBR and $2.50
micro pints.
