Dismayed at the closing of OFFICE PDX‘s brick ‘n’ mortar? You’re looking at things all wrong, according to owners Tony Secolo and Kelly Coller, who after taking stock of the economy and the fact that over half of their sales were being made online decided to overhaul their business model. First step, lose the storefront. Then overhaul the website. And third, inspired in part by the right-around-the-corner TBA festival, shift to a “time-based” in-person retail model, aka, the pop-up shop. Doing so opens up mobility—the plan is to take the show on the road with pop-ups in other creative design hubs like San Francisco, New York, Seattle, and moreover, to do them in spaces that of interest, such as new buildings of architectural intrigue and design-oriented business spaces.

The first of these is going to be at Sandbox Studio‘s PDX location (420 NE 9th), and doubles as OFFICE’s 4th anniversary party. Come for the new products, limited edition prints, and the opening for artist Matte Stephens, and stay for DJ Dave Allen and complimentary ingest-ables from New Deal Vodka and Besaws. It’s going down Wednesday, August 26, 7-9 pm, and it’s free (and 21+), but please do RSVP by Monday (the 24th). To new beginnings.
