It amazes me that the leaders of the Catholic Church are taken seriously when they lecture other people—including non-Catholics—about their sexual morality. BBC:
A Catholic religious order is to supply a 161m euros (£145m) package of measures as reparation for child abuse in Ireland. The Christian Brothers said the decision had been taken in response to the Ryan report which revealed decades of abuse at religious institutions…. More than 2,000 people told the commission they had suffered physical and sexual abuse as children in the institutions, which included schools and orphanages. It found that sexual abuse was “endemic” in boys’ institutions, and church leaders knew what was going on…. More allegations were made against the Christian Brothers than the other male orders combined.
In a statement the order says it is filled with “shame and sorrow.” Yeah right. No from the Catholic Brothers lifted a finger to stop the abuse while it was happening. If they’re feeling shame and sorrow now it’s because they got caught. And the same order that failed to protect the Irish children entrusted to its care moved heaven and earth to protect the rapists and their accomplices that are still members:
No real names, of perpetrators, appeared in the Ryan report after the Christian Brothers took legal action in 2004 to keep the identities of all of its members, dead or alive, out of the report.
They’re shameless.

I overheard someone refer to the Catholic Church as “Pedaphilia Inc.” Sounds about right to me. How they even have one remaining member who takes them seriously is beyond me.
Note to Catholics: you can pick up a Bible and read it for yourself. You don’t need a “priesthood” saying hosannahs over you to go to heaven.
Better yet: don’t even read the bible! If you need to get your morality from a bunch of stories about smiting, begetting, and ethnic wars, then you have problems.
What if you get up to “heaven” and you are denied entrance because you’ve been worshiping the wrong god? Given that all the religions claim that they are the true one and have their own stories to “prove” it, it is impossible to tell which one is right, and which ones is just a bunch of crackpots. Given that, I figure religion is kind of buying a lottery ticket, you pick your numbers and maybe you’ll win, but the chances are really stacked against you, (but still they are better than not playing.) Given that you’ll have to spend eternity in “hell” if you are wrong, it seems like a you should at least pick one. So I have: Dionysus, the Greek god of wine. I may be wrong about my god, but the “services” are fun so I can’t complain too much.
Sexual abuse and pedophila in the Catholic Church isn’t limited to priests abusing children. Nuns abuse children, priests abuse nuns, higher-ranking nuns abuse lower-ranking nuns.
The Church is one big no-holes-barred swingers club, it seems.

One gets the feeling that the entire hierarchy of the Church is populated by two-faced hypocrites who expose a false face to the public but expose their true face behind closed doors.
In regard to choosing the right God, I’ve always been amused by “Pascal’s Wager” where it’s asserted that if you believe all you lose if you are wrong is that you were wrong, but if you disbelieve and it turns out God exists, you’re screwed from here to Eternity.
The problem is that there are so many options. Maybe it’s Yahweh, maybe it’s Shiva, maybe it’s Zeus or Marduk (Babylonians), or Quetzalcoatl (Mayans).
But I’m putting my money on Odin.
