I have not voted yet. I am still stuck on the Saltzman/Cornett question. I liked Stefan’s expression of voters remorse last week, even though I wasn’t 100% sure if it was sincere or sarcastic: “Tough on Saltzman? Hell, I woulda voted for him if I thought he’d just be quietly drilling his big pipe for another couple years.”
I gave serious consideration to Blabby and others who basically said it would be idiotic to reward Saltzman for failing with the PPB. I was so pissed when Saltzman came out after the road rage incidents talking about ‘anger management’, it almost sounded like a joke but I know he was serious. It is odd that we didn’t get any emotion out of him until he got stripped of the bureau, since the cops had given him so many opportunities to express some justifiable outrage over their behavior while he was in charge.
I still think that Saltzman was doing a good job before he took the PPB though. I am a little sympathetic since he should have never really had to take the loser assignment that is really Adams’ problem. And I wonder if Cornett (who realize was never angling for the PPB assignment) would have done any better had he been thrust into Saltzman’s place.
Damn! White people are pissed! Time to round up a posse.
@to the haters
Grit your teeth and vote for Cornett. I mean, for God’s sake. What’s your vote for? To reward moderate competence and complacency, or to send a message that such things won’t be tolerated?
I am not generally one for protest votes, I liked Nader more than the Democrats but knew better than to vote for him. I think Clegg probably fucked Labor, sorry Labour, to the detriment of working people in the UK (though if he gets his election reform passed I may be wrong). I just wish I knew for sure that there would not be a Saltzman/Volm runoff but I have not seen any polling. If you tell me that there is a low risk of this scenario Matt I will do your will happily, and consider it a parting gift to one of my favorite reporters.
