Here comes the first trailer for the somewhat anticipated flick The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen and directed by Michel Gondry. As you’ve undoubtedly heard, this has been a troubled production and the studio was rumored to be rather unhappy with the film’s weirdo comedic vibe (hence making it 3D… and releasing it in January?)—but the proof is in the pudding, right? I will grudgingly allow it. It looks like Sony’s trying as hard as they can to sell this as a conventional blockbuster–but Gondry’s anything but conventional. I’m guessing/hoping that this is a shitty ad for a film that should be, if nothing else, pretty interesting and weird.

And I think this movie has a pretty good chance of being awesome.
I’d like to see the international ver. of the trailer. Very similar to what Universal has pulled with the domestic trailers so far for Scott Pilgrim, this is well, yeah, I’m curious, but also ready to write it off. Though I am aware of my reaction being shaped by raucously loud, obnoxious rock music. I wonder if this was an internal job at Sony corporate or farmed out to a trailer house.
I imagine this will be attached to prints of that Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz James Mangold action film coming out this week.
