The New York Times paywall went into effect today, restricting readers to 20 articles per month. Well, that’s grossly simplified, since the terms of their digital subscriptions are labyrinthine. But there are already reports on how to hack, uh, circumvent the paywall. It’s surprisingly easy, according to an article posted on Mashable.com:
Readers need only remove “?gwh=numbers” from the URL. They can also clear their browser caches, or switch browsers as soon as they see the subscription prompt. All three of these simple fixes will let them continue reading.
Wow, that’s pretty simple.
This may not last for long.

You should already be clearing your browser caches at the end of each browsing session. Especially if you’re married.
something about paying for content if you want content.
@Graham: If there’s manna in the street I’m not going to buy it at Safeway.
Also, some play on the word “malcontent.”
Some comment I’m too lazy to write, but you get the point anyway, I’m sure.
Something something old media something.
I don’t want to stalk them if they don’t want me to so I just added the nytimes.com to the firewall ban list. If everyone does that they will go the way of the Oregonian.
NYT is free on the library website. Also you can supposedly right click behind the pay wall popup and hit inspect element.
