Politico:

PELLA, Iowa — Rick Santorum said Monday that the killing of Osama bin Laden won’t serve as a deterrent to other enemies because they don’t fear President Barack Obama.

Asked if bin Laden’s death would make it more difficult to argue that Obama is weak on defense or national security, Santorum said this simply proved “a strike to kill a person” can be done.

You know, guys, he’s absolutely right. We need a leader with some gravitas, and if there’s one person the entire world could take seriously, it’s President Santorum.

  1. “… they don’t fear President Barack Obama. ”

Funny. I wasn’t aware that Mr. Santorum had some kind of privileged, epistemic access to the emotional states of our enemies. How he divined their feelings about our president with such specificity is remarkable, and I’d be interested to hear exactly how he did it.

Also, if the enemies Mr. Santorum is talking about are “the terrorists”, and the same “terrorists” who seem fine with regularly strapping on bombs and blowing themselves and others to bits, does it not stand to reason that those selfsame people, who are apparently not very afraid of death, are also not likely to be very afraid of *any* president?
