It’s one of the things that made this list of 18 reasons to hate the store (would it have been that hard to make it an even 20?), besides the whole thing with the billionaire owner making financial contributions to Rick Santorum. Also on the list are $5 packages of ramen, fake mustaches for bicycles, t-shirts reading “Eat Less” and “Poverty Sucks” (in gold), flesh color, ear-shaped earrings that cost $90, at least one example of UA ripping off an independent designer who sells on Etsy, and a few other things that you may not be aware of if you are not in the midst of decorating a college dorm room. In other disturbing generic-hipster news, did you realize that the roosters whose feathers are used in feather earrings and hair extensions are euthanized for the plucking? And that just one of the companies supplying them kills 1,500 birds each week in a (failed) effort to keep up with the demand?
I thought the Etsy ripoff was thoroughly disproven. And…should the roosters NOT be euthanized before plucking? That just sounds mean.
It seems like if you’re going to criticize racism by AO, you shouldn’t refer to “flesh color” earrings (I’m assuming only one color is represented as “flesh”).

I agree with sharktooth….if you’re buying a 5$ package of ramen (or paying 20$ for it in a restaurant ) you in fact are an idiot.The rooster thing is unfortunate, but there are plenty of reasons to hate hipsters already…like mustaches on bikes. I hope to christ the people who buy these do not breed
The Etsy designer selling those state/country necklaces with hearts punched out of them isn’t even the first person to sell them on Etsy. Here she’s complaining that they stole the “I Heart Place” name from her.
Here’s the thing: it’s impossible to steal something so generic. The complainer didn’t steal it from someone else, she just came up with it later. To whine about UO stealing a design from you is great for moral outrage, not so great for making me give a shit.
@2 What’s wrong with “flesh” colored earrings? They’re the color of flesh. White flesh, but still flesh. If anything you should be blaming UO for not making dark-skinned earrings. They’re clearly the biggest racists of all time.
