Last night saw the launch of a website titled “Writers in Support of the Occupy Movement.” Black text on a white background reads:
We, the undersigned writers and all who will join us, support Occupy Wall Street and the Occupy Movement around the world.
Followed by a list that includes some of my favorite writers: George Saunders, Aimee Bender, Ann Patchett, Jonathan Lethem, Alison Bechdel, Sam Lipstye, Dorothy Allison.
It’s perhaps no surprise to see the literary intelligentsia crowding to support the Occupy Movement—and sure, it doesn’t cost anyone anything to sign their name—but it is a pretty breathtaking list.
