Tired of chasing the siren song of the ice cream truck? Does the exorbitant cost of a pint of Ben & Jerry's totally "blow your trip"? Yeah, us too. But here's a way to beat the heat and make use of all the empty Ziplocs in your kitchen drawers, with something we like to call "Ice Cream in a Bag."

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup milk or half and half

1 teaspoon vanilla

6 tablespoons rock salt

1 pint-sized Ziploc

1 gallon-sized Ziploc

Ice cubes

Fill the big bag half full of ice, add rock salt and seal. In the small bag, combine the milk, vanilla and sugar, then seal that one as well.

Place the small bag inside the large one and carefully reseal. Shake the bags violently until the concoction complies and becomes ice cream. It should take about five minutes. Less, if you're determined (or jacked up on crank). Mmm. mmm. delicious!
