Here’s some good news for those of you who use cable locks on your bike—and fear it could be stolen any second (which it could)!

If you don’t already know, cable locks are notoriously easy to snip for the knowledgeable Portland bike thief—but U-locks can be costly for those with little means. So stop by the PPB Bike Theft Prevention tent at this weekend’s North Portland Sunday Parkways (June 26, 11 am – 4 pm) and trade that crappy cable in for a sweet Abus U-lock. Ahhhh. See? You’re feeling safer already.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)
