One of Portland's favorite bars, the Lay Low Tavern at 6015 SE Powell, was robbed at gunpoint early this morning in a frightening altercation.

According to a press release from Portland Police, around closing time three armed masked suspects entered the bar, and told the customers to get down on the floor, and then demanded money. Witnesses say two of the suspects were carrying guns, and another a taser. After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the bandits left, and fortunately, no one was injured.

The cops scoured the neighborhood for the suspects but so far have been unsuccessful. Anyone with information on the crime is encouraged to contact the Portland Police robbery division at 503-823-0412.

The Lay Low is owned by the same people who have been behind a lot of Portland's dive bar restoration projects, having originally taken over Club 21 (which has since been demolished for development), the Sandy Hut, the Alibi Lounge, and the Lay Low (formerly called Coasters) which reopened under their management in March 2017.
