GOOD MORNING, PORTLAND! If I could fall into the sky, do you think time would pass me by? 'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles if I could just see you tonight. LET'S GO TO PRESS.

The Trump shutdown continues, and while Mitch McConnell was hoping to lay low and pin the blame on Democrats, members of his own party are applying pressure on the Senate majority turtle to accept the Democrats' deal.

Meanwhile House Democrats are ready to unveil their sweeping plans to protect voting rights, as well as turn the screws on the Trump administration's ethical violations and the country's campaign finance rules—but our rightfully panicky president is trying to keep the focus on the Trump shutdown.

Speaking of panicky presidents, Trump is trying to tamp down the idea of impeachment by saying that Democrats are just jealous of his "popularity and success." HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA... right.

Speaking of jealousy (the actual kind), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gets the "sweetest Twitter burn of the week" award for telling the jeering GOP "don't hate me cause you ain't me."

While Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats are taking a "wait and see" attitude about kicking Trump out of office, freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib has much stronger words: "Impeach the motherfucker."

Paul Whelan, the man accused and arrested by Russia on charges of being a spy, may actually be just an innocent pawn in a prisoner exchange deal for Maria Butina, the woman who spied on the NRA for Russia.

Scared you're going to be murdered in an earthquake, and would love an early warning? NOW THERE'S AN APP FOR THAT.

IN LOCAL NEWS: BOLI issued a damning report yesterday pointing out the failure of Oregon state legislative leaders to take measures against reports of sexual harassment and misconduct—and peered especially hard at former Senator Jeff Kruse.

Today in "suspicious": Portland Fire Chief Mike Myers abruptly resigned less than a day after his new city council boss, Jo Ann Hardesty, was sworn into office. HMMMMMM.

Second time's the charm? Oregon Senator Ron Wyden has reintroduced legislation that he hopes will force President Trump to release his tax returns.

Now let's peep at the WEATHER: Showers in the morning lead to a dry afternoon with a high of 50.

And finally, DON'T GET INTO ANY TWITTER FIGHTS THIS WEEKEND! (If you do, I'll be forced to send in this puppy to break you guys up.)
