Portland pop artist Courtney Noe released a new song today, "Woman on the Prowl," the lead single from her forthcoming EP Bad Attitude, a follow-up to 2016's Invisible Crown.

After seeing the singer play a set at GirlFest in 2017, I was wondering where she went and what she was up to. The catchy new song is a sex-positive pop-rock anthem, with Noe embodying a wildcat who's on the hunt for a one-night stand. In a recent news release, Noe explains how the song came to life:

“I told my friends I was going ‘hunting’ when we were going out.... I wanted to tell a story about a female being confident, powerful and knowing exactly what, or who, she wanted, and getting it. My process is word-vomiting lyrics onto paper and then handing them to my producer and co-writer, who help turn that chaos into a song," she says.

Originally, there was way more synth and effects on "Woman on the Prowl" at first, but none of that felt right, so she and her team stripped it back down to basics.

For the five-track Bad Attitude EP—due in September—Noe teamed up with inventive producer/multi-instrumentalist Tony Ozier, making the whole project that much more enticing. Her next single, "Reckless," is set to roll out next week.
