A Thursday afternoon shooting at a Vancouver, Washington retirement home has left one person dead and several others injured.

According to The Columbian, the shooter is thought to be an 80-year-old resident of the home, located in downtown Vancouver. The Columbian reports that at least two people are injured, and as of 3:50 pm, the shooter was still active inside the building.

Not all residents of the retirement home, called Smith Tower, have been evacuated.

“This is an active shooter situation,” said Kim Kapp, spokesperson for Vancouver Police Department, at an on-scene press briefing.

One resident has died from the shooting. Two residents with non life-threatening gunshot wounds were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

The Vancouver Police Department is telling people to avoid the area at this time. Vancouver City Hall has been put into lock down.
