Blossom performing at her album release party in June.Ashley Walters
Happy Friday, Portland! It's a pretty rad day for the Portland music scene. Today—in addition to new full-length releases from Wynne, Myke Bogan, and Swiggle Mandela—Blossom released a new behind-the-scenes video shot and edited by Riley Brown, the Portland hip-hop scene's most stalwart director/videographer.
In a style similar to Beyoncé's Homecoming concert documentary, the 16-minute video features Blossom speaking openly and honestly about the inspiration, musicianship, and creative processes that went into the sophomore album. In addition to seeing the R&B singer/songwriter hard at work in the studio, the short doc also features some seriously gorgeous live footage, and tells how her epic album release show came together at the Armory at Portland Center Stage. The video feels very much like a celebration of Portland's tight-knit community of POC creatives, and I'm 100 percent here for it.
