GOOD MORNING, PORTLAND! Don't care what is written in your history, as long as you're here with me. LET'S GO TO PRESS.

AND WE'RE OFF: Live public impeachment hearings start today that will focus on President Trump's illegal attempts to extort a foreign government for his own personal gain. The un-festive festivities is kicking off with testimony from top Ukraine diplomat William Taylor and senior State Department official George Kent—two very credible witnesses who will testify as to how the crime unfolded and who was involved. Expect Democrats (led by Adam Schiff) to guide the testimony and establish an understandable narrative, while Republicans (led by notorious liar and Trump lackey Devin Nunes) who will throw every crazy conspiracy theory they can think of at the proceedings in order to derail the investigation. MAY GOD (who doesn't exist, but you know) HAVE MERCY ON US ALL.

For those who hate getting fooled by liars, here's a roundup of debunked claims that will surely be trotted out and endlessly repeated by Republicans during the impeachment hearings.

Trump's efforts to end DACA will be going before the Supreme Court who may end up siding with the president—HOWEVER. His racist attempts to deport thousands of young immigrants is not going to help Trump's reelection chances... like, at all.

SPEAKING OF THE WHITE HOUSE'S RACIST EFFORTS: I've been saying since day one that Stephen Miller is the most dangerous, racist person in the Trump administration, and VOILA! These emails prove it. (It is very difficult being right so much of the time. *checks nails*)

Already in hot water after publicly admitting that Trump's extortion of the Ukraine was indeed a "quid pro quo," White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney waffled over whether or not he should testify before Congress—and to avoid the further wrath of Trump, the coward chose the latter.

But with all this impeachment hearings hullaballoo, let's not forget about another important ongoing case: the trial of Roger Stone and his involvement with Wikileaks, which may have involved the president much more than he would like us to know.

In other impeachment news: "University of Florida’s student president faces impeachment after bringing Donald Trump Jr. to campus for $50,000."

In China, students are constructing makeshift weapons and setting up blockades at universities and other places of business to protest the government and police violence.

Today in "here's what happens when you ignore climate change": The flood level in Venice is the highest its been in 50 years, and has already led to the deaths of two people.

IN LOCAL NEWS: Undocumented Oregonians rallied in Portland yesterday to protest President Trump's racist attempts to end DACA. Our Blair Stenvick was there and filed this story.

Building owners have taken down the signage for the soon-to-open 1670 New American Chocolate House after an artistic protester linked the business' name to colonialism and the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
