For the third day in a row, Governor Kate Brown will be giving a 1 pm press conference to provide updates on the current state of Oregon wildfires and the progress being made to contain them. She's expected to be joined by various state firefighting and public health officials who will also share information on evacuations, air quality, and how the wildfires are affecting various parts of the state.
Yesterday the governor and fire officials passed on information about the evacuations in Clackamas County, noting that Oregonians have "never seen this much uncontained fire across the state." We were also educated about the unstable air conditions and unpredictable movement of the fires that have been making it difficult for firefighters to respond to the blazes. Brown also cryptically noted that these wildfires could become the new normal, since Oregon (and the world) are "feeling the acute impacts of climate change."
