Portland sketch comedy duo the Aces have been selected to perform at the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival this year! This is a big dealโ€”Sketch Fest, happening this weekend, is the biggest sketch comedy festival in the country, hosted annually at Stage 773 in the heart of Chicago’s beloved comedytown*, and the Aces are among only a handful of acts from the Pacific Northwest in a Chicago- and NYC-heavy lineup.

One-half of the Aces Shelley McLendon (the other half is Michael Fettersโ€”read about ’em here) says they’re “excited and nervous,” but prepared with animal impressions. “We have chosen 40 minutes worth of our favorite Aces sketches from the past 3 years, which include a lot of sketches where we play animals (such as gorillas, an owl, a dog, etc.) as well as regular people,” she says. “We have been running the sketches over and over and trying to find new and funny elements in sketches that we already love.”

Break a leg, Aces! Show those midwesterners how it’s done! And if someone offers you something called Malort, don’t drink it!

*The neighborhood of comedytown post-Cubs drunk bro-ville Lakeview would like me to clarify that it’s actually called Lakeview.
