This weekend will deliver the perfect weather (not too hot, not too cold) to run around to events from Portland Independent Bookstore Day to an author talk with Aubrey Gordon and from the Oregon Potters Association Ceramics Showcase to Making Earth Cool Earth Day Celebration. Malcolm Harris in Conversation With Lydia Kiesling
Don’t make the mistake I did and confuse Malcolm Harris with Dan Harris (10% Happier) or Malcolm Gladwell (The Tipping Point). Malcolm Harris is an East Coast journo and bona fide millennial (he was active in the Occupy Wall Street movement) whose previous books sport titles like Shit is Fucked Up and Bullshit. Frankly, I agree, which is why I’m intrigued by Harris’ new book, What’s Left: Three Paths Through the Planetary Crisis. The tome promises to “cut through the noise and get real about our remaining options for saving the world,” which seems increasingly less likely. He’ll be joined by Mobility author Lydia Kiesling for this conversation. LINDSAY COSTELLO
