Celebrate DIY culture and independent publishing at the annual Portland Zine Symposium.

It’s time to clock out of the work week and check in to the weekend. We’ve lined up some cheap and easy events that shouldn’t escape your attention, from the Portland Zine Symposium to Zoigl Fest and from a Shady Pines Radio Showcase to the final Sunday Parkways of the year. For more ideas, check out our guide to the top events of the week.

SATURDAY

Flip Side Vegan Market – 90S’eptember
A group of scrappy vegan vendors will sell their wares at a special ’90s throwback edition of this queer POC-organized event. This month’s festivities feature over 30 booths (including a dozen new vendors), ink from Guilt Tripping tattoo, plant-based birria nachos, deep-fried elote, crafts, a photo booth, and more. While you’re there, grab a gooey “cinnasnail” from Hail Snail and a crisp beverage from Arbor Beer Lodge. The nonprofit Green Acres Farm Sanctuary will also be present to talk about their work caring for rescued animals. JULIANNE BELL
(Hail Snail, Arbor Lodge, free)
