Earthen Elegance: The Ceramic Art of Bizen
The Portland Japanese Garden isn’t just a foolproof spot to wander in nice weather—it also hosts interesting exhibitions year-round. Installed in the Pavilion Gallery, Earthen Elegance: The Ceramic Art of Bizen features “contemporary ceramic art and vessels that preserve a time-honored collaboration of earth, fire, and the artist’s hand.” On loan from the collection of David Sneider and Naomi Pollock, the show’s textural, unglazed ceramic forms were wood-fired in the town of Bizen, which is recognized as one of the “Rokkoyō (六古窯) Six Ancient Kilns of Japan.” LINDSAY COSTELLO
(Portland Japanese Garden, Arlington Heights; closing)

EverOut is The Mercury's new website devoted to things to do in Portland and across the Pacific Northwest. It has all the same things you're used to seeing from Mercury EverOut Staff, just in a new spot!...
