L.A. Witch
Since their formation in 2011, L.A. Witch has made beachy garage rock inspired by California’s sunny climate, midcentury style, and breezy mindset. But on their newly released third album DOGGOD, the trio taps into something darker, icier, and more poetic (thanks in part to the album being written and recorded in Paris). Thematically, the album tackles spiritual riddles, divinity, Gothic and medieval history, and the symbolic connection between women and dogs. Sonically, the songs maintain the band’s signature reverb with echoes of post-punk, paisley underground, and ’90s grunge. They will support the album alongside noise pop band Daiistar. For fans of: L7, Mazzy Star, medieval folklore, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. AUDREY VANN
