Saturday, November 14 marks the sixth year of Content, a live fashion installation that takes over the entire second floor of the downtown hotel. Over 20 emerging Portland brands are each given a room to transform into an art installation that gives attendees a stimulating, multimedia glimpse of the creative process behind the products—the emphasis here is on artistry rather than a trade show scenario; it's not about a designer standing next to a rolling rack and handing out business cards. It's about a million times more fun, more surprising, and more inspiring than that! (Though it should be noted that you can exercise your inspiration with a purchase at the event's complementing pop-up shop, which will be open in the adjacent Cleaners event space.)

This started as an event that was aimed explicitly at designers of apparel and accessories, but as it's grown it's diversified to include apothecary, floral, pattern design, household goods and more. This year the Ace took more creative control than ever, adding for the first time an open call for participants that brought in an even more diverse lineup. (Disclosure note: I lent a couple hours' consulting time during part of the submission process.) The result is a mix of returning names (Brady Lange, Shwood, WWJJD, a new collaboration between John Blasioli and Bridge & Burn (!)) and new frontiers, such as a collaboration between the artist Damien Gilley and the cannabis-infused Drip ice cream brand?! Yes, please! Content is Saturday, Nov 14, 5-10 pm at the Ace Hotel, 1022 SW Stark
