Portland Garment Factory is hosting the Not Quite Perfect Sale. Featuring re-worn Eileen Fisher garments, it’s a continuation of a recent collaboration with the brand’s clothing recycling program, Fisher Found. A previous first team-up involved PGF taking used Eileen Fisher clothing and upcycling the pieces into tote bags. This event will showcase gently worn clothing priced from $15, and PGF will provide tailoring and mending as well as a DIY hand-sewing station. A portion of the sales will go to Dress for Success Oregon, and wine will be provided by A to Z Wineworks.

Portland Garment Factory, 408 SE 79th Sat June 10-Sun June 11, 11 am-3 pm

MODIFIED STYLE Jeff Wong

Modified Style, an annual fundraiser and showcase for up-and-coming designers, is back with a long list of hopefuls vying for the top spot in a number of categories, including youth, amateur, and professional. To bring awareness to the pollution and environmental damage fast fashion creates, each designer is tasked with creating a one-of-a-kind garment made exclusively from recycled materials. MOORE won the professional category last year, so if you want to check out the next generation of Portland designers, this is a great event to attend. Proceeds from the show will benefit Caldera Arts, a nonprofit blending art and environmental education to improve the lives of underprivileged youth.

Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside, Thurs June 22, 7:30 pm, $18-50, all ages

Portland is all about DIY culture, but even the city’s most creative souls might be too intimidated to make their own footwear. Well, intimidation be damned! Learn how to make leather sandals at Broad Space’s Shoemaking 101. Broad Space is a fairly new art and work collective that seeks to connect women looking to grow their business and art ventures by providing workshops as well as space. In this one-day class taught by Nike footwear designer Sarah Rabeda, you’ll learn design principles, measure the foot, turn your design into a pattern, dye and cut the leather, and assemble the final product.

Broad Space, 425 SE 3rd, Sat June 24, 9:30 am-6:30 pm, $195 (includes cost of materials), register at broadspacepdx.com
