Bigfoot is a lady-run online skateboard mag for women. It was started by two friends who’ve been skateboarding for as long as Gen Z’ers have been alive, and named for the mythical creature always lurking on the outskirts—which is exactly what women in the ’90s had to do if they were interested in skateboarding.
Last week the two founders—Megan “Migzy” McGuire and Amy Caron—put on an all-ladies skate jam at Portland’s indoor Nike SB park. A few really nice dudes were there, but by 9:30 the park was all ours. While listening to Cardi B and drinking Coors Lights, we danced, laughed our asses off, and reminisced about our first boards, which included a Costco Bart Simpson, a hot pink-and-black Bam Margera, and a Santa Cruz sparkplug. (If that doesn’t cross some socioeconomic lines and age gaps then I don’t know what does.) Oh, and of course, we fuckin’ skated. xxoo PPÂ
