We're stoked that the Widmer Brothers Pub is back for a second year, after performing like a champ during Burger Week 2013. Chef Travis Hansen has once again gone to the drawing board to design a big, juicy, charred marvel with the all-American burger "it" you expect, and the novel twist that Burger Week demands. It was burger sampling #19 of 20 for me, but this mouth-watering behemoth put a spring in my step and helped me charge to the finish.

- American Kobe Cheeseburger, $5. Beer, pickle, and chips not included.
This year they're offering a $5 American Kobe Cheeseburger, consisting of a fresh, hand-formed 6oz Snake river farms American Kobe beef patty, American cheese, grilled pickled onion, iceberg slaw, housemade fennel-tomato ketchup, and a Grand Central potato bun. It's one of the best-built burgers out there, and the unique ketchup / grilled pickled onion combo beautifully cuts the richness of the high-end meat. It's available all day after 2pm.
Chef Hansen recommends pairing it with their Widmer Bros Alchemy Pale Ale, but you are encouraged to pair it with all kinds of their beer. Responsibly, of course.

The Portland Mercury would like to thank our partners once again this year, world-class meat provider Nicky USA, Widmer Brothers Brewing, and Jim Beam Kentucky Fire!
Important reminder: THESE BURGERS WILL SELL OUT. Last year’s restaurants had one main issue with the event last year, and that was people getting angry and rude when they found out that they are part of a reality where restaurants that are getting slammed run out of food. We have better forecasting numbers this year, but please: go early, be kind, get a drink, and, most importantly, a $5 burger is a privilege, not a right. You know what someone who acts like a horse’s ass is? Hint: It has two enormous buttocks and large poops fall out of the middle.
