For people who work in crummy office jobs, Office Space defined all of their gripes: fax machines that never work, a co-worker whose voice makes you want to go on a killing spree, lazy sycophants getting away with everything, and the burning desire to fuck over the corporation for which you work, all the while stealing piles of money for yourself.
Some Body, while having a dumb title and a low budget, is an entirely accurate representation of the five-plus-year relationship breakup, and the meltdown that inevitably ensues. The film follows Lee, who has been with her all-around fine boyfriend, Anthony, for a long time, and who desperately wants to get some fresh freak on, especially when she's liquored up. This causes arguments, and Lee decides she needs to move out.
Typical breakup antics ensue, including classic male arguments such as, "Good luck finding someone else who will put up with your shit," and "I'm keeping the dog." Girl-breakup antics include dramatic crying, getting really drunk and fucking around with weird guys, and calling the ex-boyfriend's house whenever lonely.
Relationship movies are always interesting to people like relationship movies, and this is a really interesting relationship movie, so Some Body has that on its side. It also has an amazingly realistic quality, thanks to cameos by the writer's actual ex-boyfriends. In addition, kind of nasty sex scenes are included, and Lee acts as though she's really put down five drinks in scenes where she's intoxicated. She does things that are pathetic and sad and funny, but anyone who has ever been lonely can relate to her disturbed state of mind.
