Still from FIDLAR's "I Don't Want To Do This" music video.

Back in February when the monolithic lineup for this year’s Project Pabst sent us reeling, the Mercury published a round-up of favorite acts not to be missed at the fest—sadly, one of the bands we were looking most forward to cutting it up with has dropped.

Read it here: Project Pabst Is Back in a Big Way This Summer

Icons of first wave, late ’70s punk the Damned announced on July 22 that they would not be able to perform their Pacific Northwest dates due to “an unexpected and catastrophic event at a member of the Damned’s home”—that unfortunately includes their appearance at this year’s Project Pabst. Although it’s massive bummer not to be catching the legends this weekend, we at the Mercury wish them all the best and hope they can come through soon.

Pulling up last minute to fill in are Fuck It Dawg, Life’s a Risk (FIDLAR), an LA outfit that loves drinking beer, doing drugs, and making high octane punk that pulls from garage, skate, and surf rock. Their direct lineage from early punk will help fill the the Damned-shaped hole at Project Pabst 2025.

Don’t get it twisted: We’re still champing at the bit to go night clubbing with Iggy Pop, whipping it with Devo, following Death Cab for Cutie into the dark, getting dizzy-stupid with Cap’n Jazz, and finding heaven with Mannequin Pussy. We may be down a damn fine band, but the lineup is still dense as hell!

Check out our Project Pabst 2025 playlist below, and we’ll see you this weekend!
