Have I mentioned I got new roommates? Well I did, and I’m ecstatic about how cool and lovely they are. Here’s just one example of how they’re cool: They know Sasha Barr. Don’t know who that is? That’s cool; neither did I. Turns out he’s the art director for Sub Pop. You guys know Sub Pop! Well, just in case you don’t (via Wikipedia), “It’s a record label founded in 1986 in Seattle, Washington. Sub Pop achieved fame in the late 1980s for first signing Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, and many other bands from the Seattle alternative rock scene.” I like to call it ALT-ROCK. Sub Pop is, like, probably why I chose to call the Pacific Northwest my home, and it’s definitely why I wear flannels around my waist (I’m very grunge). So when the roomies asked if I wanted to go to Barr’s art show at Gallery 135, I said yes! That’s how I found myself at the first First Thursday I’ve been to in maybe a year (something I’m not proud of, actually). The Sasha Barr show was great, but you know how those things go: You look around, you chat, and then you’re like... now what? So we continued to stroll, making our way to a few other galleries, where I was able to catch some cool cuties—and a bird—just walking around the Pearl. I’m really happy I busted out my camera, ’cause there were some delightful people out on that beautiful, sunny day in ye olde PNW. (Didn’t spot one flannel, though.)
