You love The Decemberists… you love Mad Men on AMC… but do you love The Decemberists on Mad Men? In the opening sequence of Sunday night’s episode (which was largely about the ad agency securing the Playtex bra account), the gals of Mad Men are putting on their undies to The Decemberists “The Infanta.” Now, this was totally jarring for me, since everything in Mad Men takes place in 1962, and the show is hot to trot for historical accuracy.
But anyway, hurray for The Decemberists, I guess… but since you can’t swing a dead cat in this town without hearing these guys, I’d really prefer to watch the Mad Men dolls strip to Bobby Vinton’s “Roses are Red.”
Tips to Videogum!

Yes. This freaked us out last night too.
At least it wasn’t the Shins.
They’ve used a few modern songs on Mad Men. The Cardigans were used in the first season.
Totally fine. For a guy that used to see Colin at the Rabbit Hole and the Decemberists at the Blackbird it’s cool. Never thought I’d see a band really go from start to finish. It’s pretty cool.
