First, if you care about what you eat and you haven’t seen the movie The Future of Food, do so immediately. (If you want, you can call me up at the paper 503-294-0840 ex. 23 and I’ll mail you my copy.) Second, if you buy Kraft products, stop. Also, avoid Coca Cola, Fritos, McDonald’s fries, and any meat or dairy, tomatoes, potatoes, corn, and soy that aren’t certified organic.

Why? What’s the point? Most dramatically, I’d say the point is the propagation of the human race. Less dramatically, I’d explain that corn is genetically engineered with antibiotics, which could make you resistant to much-needed medication. This means one day when you need antibiotics to cure your bronchitis, Chlamydia, or anthrax, the medicine won’t work and you’ll die. Other GE foods, like potatoes, are engineered with harmful pesticides already inside them. So again, the point is the propagation of the human race, and also, avoiding a long, slow, painful death from Chlamydia.

How is this happening? Well, The Future of Food explains it much better than I can, but key people from the evil food biotechnology company Monsanto (they also sell huge quantities of seeds and pesticides) are–under the Bush administration–now key people in the Food and Drug Administration. The same Monsanto employee who wrote a report explaining why the company’s growth hormones are safe for Americans was later working at the FDA approving the report. Disturbing? Yes.

As far as the American food supply goes, the conspiracies run deep. George Bush, Sr. appointed Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court. Thomas used to work for Monsanto. The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Anne Veneman, used to be on the board of directors at Monsanto. So was Donald Rumsfeld. The U.S. Secretary of Health received a huge donation from Monsanto in his run for governor, and John Ashcroft received a huge donation from Monsanto during the last election. Basically, Monsanto is buying the government off, so they’re free to disperse more and more unlabeled GE food, which the government has been paid to say is “safe.”

So what’s the silver lining in this mass conspiracy of nationwide poisoning?

Organic food sales have grown immensely over the past 20 years. According to “Business Week Online,” Americans spent $178 million on organic food in 1980, and they spent $10 billion on organic food in 2003. As standard supermarket food gets scarier and more riddled with GE ingredients, consumers are getting smarter. George W. Bush, in his attempts to fool America, is making them learn more about what they’re eating, thus making the organic revolution stronger. So thanks GW, for inspiring Americans to eat healthier, and good luck with that Chlamydia.
