That’s what we’re hearing, following this morning’s announcement by the paper’s parent company. Updates as we have them. In the mean time columnist Anna Griffin brings some refreshing twhumor (tweeumor? tumor? humeet? hutwu?) to bear:
Update, 3:42pm: Not much more than was already reported, it turns out. Newhouse had rescinded its job pledge—the promise that full time employees for the daily paper will never be laid off. That will take effect in February 2010, and before then, there will be more voluntary job cuts. Publisher Fred Stickel is understood to have stated very plainly: He is going to do whatever necessary to keep the O healthy as a 7-day-a-week paper.
Update, 4:45pm: Just seen this. The Oregonian reports on the news.

Hey Oregonian, dump OregonLive, and get a good website. One with capable search functions, classifieds that aren’t hell to navigate, and that looks classy. yer site sux.
But ROM, then where would red-faced angry lickspittles from Clackamas vent their bile about that goddam socialist/nazi Obama and try to twist every article into an anti-Sam Adams or hispanic immigrant screed?
