* Christopher Harris
With his melting, warm toned landscapes, Harris returns romance to the genre of Western photography, which has mostly been depicted as a barren wasteland of broken dreams for the latter half of the past century. PDX, 604 NW 12th Ave, 222-0063, Through September 6

Portland Dove
There's nothing I love more than when dozens of people get together and stand in ways that make big, pretty shapes from the sky. Sunday, "thousands" of Portlanders will be gathering to form the outline of a dove holding a giant rose in its mouth as a benefit for local peace organizations. It promises lots of peace music and a speech by the legendary Granny D. Waterfront Park, Sunday, August 17, noon-5 pm

Transmission Prints
Robert Flora was a newspaper photographer in Los Angeles from the 60's through the 80's, and his photographs of beauty contests, baseball players, the Rolling Stones, and Ronald Reagan are on view here. Photographic Image, 240 SW 1st Ave, 224-3543, Through Aug 28

World's Greatest Art Show Ever
With a name like that, it's got to be good. The exhibit promises humorous color photos by Lindsey White and a collaborative project by Sara Jane Muratori, who worked in conjunction with 18 other artists. Philip Feldman Gallery & Project Room, at PNCA, 1241 NW Johnson, 226-4391, Through Aug 29

Steven Scardina and Devan Anthony
We're not sure what Paolo promises when they say "solutions for urban living," but their current exhibit looks like an unusually graceful display. Scardina's elegant, misty black and white photos of castles and manors are juxtaposed with sensual wood carvings by Devan Anthony. Paolo in the Pearl, 1031 NW 11th Ave, 223-2222, Through August
