ABC Greenlights Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D Pilot!

In news that should make you squirt your pants with glee, Buffy's Joss Whedon will be helming a potential new series for ABC based on Marvel Comics' agents of S.H.I.E.L.D SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! From Deadline Hollywood:

ABC has ordered a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D, a live-action series from The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon, Marvel TV and ABC Studios. The project is based on Marvel’s peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D (which stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate or Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) found in both the Marvel comic book and feature film universes, including the blockbuster 2012 movie The Avengers, in which S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury, recruits Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, and Thor to stop Thor’s adoptive brother Loki from subjugating Earth.

Joss will be writing the pilot with frequent collaborator and brother Jed Whedon as well as Maurissa Tancharoen—and he'll also be directing the pilot. While other kids (looking at you, Erik) were big Avengers fans, I always preferred the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (and they're amazing uniforms). So rest assured I'm squirt, squirt, squirting with excitement over this one! (Sorry for being overly descriptive.)
