Good morning, Portland! Do you miss the snow? If so, you're in luck—we're probably going to get at least four more inches of it over the weekend.

That said, here's someone who definitely doesn't need any more snow:

Here are the headlines.

Measles Ain't Measly: We now have 50 confirmed measles cases in the Vancouver area—and four here on our side of the Columbia. The New York Times has taken notice, which I guess should round out all those national stories from a few years ago about how livable Portland is.

Curbing Carbon: Oregon is on track to be the second state, after California, to price carbon as a way to curb climate change. Environmental activists visited Salem yesterday to push lawmakers to go bold on the bill, which Governor Kate Brown and leading Democrats support.

Good Deal: Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a national politician who shockingly isn't old enough to remember watching the 1969 moon landing with her grandchildren, has released details of her promised Green New Deal. She wants to upgrade buildings for energy efficiency, help family-owned farms, and guarantee a job and quality, affordable healthcare for every American. WE MUST BURN THIS SOCIALIST WITCH AT THE STAKE!

"Every Right to Be Angry": The Portland City Council approved a $100,000 settlement for a racist cop whose termination was challenged by the Portland Police Association (PPA), the city's police union. Their reasoning: the city's legal team is no match against the PPA's lawyers, and Portland's contract with the PPA pulls strongly in the union's favor. "There is no good choice to make here today, and the community has every right to be angry," said Commissioner Chloe Eudaly. "I am angry."

Speaking of Cops: Portland State's student union is sick of waiting for a report on campus safety—and specifically, the question of whether the campus police force ought to be disarmed—in the wake of Jason Washington's death. The report has been delayed, but is expected to come out within the next two weeks.

Here's the Tea on Coffee: Ristretto Roasters has faced strong backlash after a former employee spoke out about Nancy Rommelmann, the owner's wife, and her backwards views on the #MeToo movement. They just closed their Northwest Portland location. Causation? You decide.

A 911 Emergency: Willamette Week's new cover story about the changing makeup of 911 calls in Portland is worth a read. Among its findings: calls reporting "unwanted persons" have gone up 60 percent since 2013.

Merchants of Shit: Jill Abramson, former New York Times executive editor, is facing serious scrutiny for allegations of factual errors and plagiarism in her new book, Merchants of Truth. It's funny, because her book has the word truth in it, and a key premise of the book is that the young journalists fueling digital media simply don't have the chops to handle major stories. It's also not funny, because Abramson is probably going to be just fine, but the victims of recent digital media layoffs might not be.
