Just a cute story from TriMet HQ about a Line 45 driver leaping into an act of everyday awesomeness:

A woman in a motorized scooter was crossing Hall Boulevard in a crosswalk near Washington Square about 11:30 am today when she was struck by a car that was turning right. The woman suffered a lower leg injury. Police say her leg was bleeding, but was not severed or partially severed as some media had thought. Two nurses and a paramedic were nearby and came to the aid of the woman, as did a TriMet bus operator. Line 45 operator Jeff Grimes used his belt to put pressure on the artery in the woman’s upper leg, reducing the flow of blood. Police say the woman was transported by ambulance with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Following the incident, Operator Grimes continued on his route.

Sarah Shay Mirk reported on transportation, sex and gender issues, and politics at the Mercury from 2008-2013. They have gone on to make many things, including countless comics and several books.

  1. So am I a dick for asking if her legs worked in the first place? I mean, if she is already using a motorized scooter….

Which brings me to some fucking Montrose because I’m fucking drinking on a friday night.

    Ahem.

So get on your bad motor scooter and ride
Up over to my place and stay all night.
First thing in the morning we’ll be feeling all right
So get on your bad motor scooter and ride.

  2. Good for him! People here are always bitching and whining ceaselessly about the TriMet drivers – even though MOST of them are pretty cool and do put up with a ton of crap from a hostile, confused, loud-mouthed, sometimes deranged public.

Now here’s hoping Trimet won’t turn around and fire him over some stupid-as-fuck policy issue.

  3. Ordinarily, I’m not a fan of your purported right-wing ravings, stjohnsrules (and I make Franco look like Jane Fonda) but I must give you credit for the Montrose reference.

  4. @Eastside: You do realize you’re baggin’ on my views, which are not right-wing but a complete criticism of liberal inefficiency and innuendo, while sporting an Iron Cross avatar? I don’t like extremes. That is my deal. I’m very much in the middle. It just so happens we now have too many liberal extremists lying to people in blogs like these. I’m here to not only offer the truth, but reality as well. Some people choose not to live there. I’m not one of them. I thought GW Bush was a good president, I think Obama is an absolute race-baiting and divisive failure hiding behind liberal extremists. And although Clinton was a bald-faced liar, he still did his job very well, although he did enjoy the economy during the tech bubble, not after it burst. I get my information from reputable sources and I call people out on their bullshit. So, excuse me for being blunt here. Unless you know what my true intentions are here, please reserve your intellectually lazy description of me until you know better. We wouldn’t want people to get the wrong idea about me, now would we?
