People have been getting on my case when I point out how dramatic the weather’s been this month. I’m going to keep on speaking my truth, though. Yesterday, not only was wind pushing trees onto houses, slicing power lines, and bullying big rigs off of Marine Drive, but rain was ensuring this is Portland’s wettest December on record, with 10 days left to go. As we noted yesterday, the woman who plowed a car into a Las Vegas sidewalk filled with pedestrians this weekend lived in Portland until recently. The reason for the tragedy remains unclear. A man cops say is one of the city’s most-prolific bike thieves was caught recently when a TV network set up a sting bike in Portland. He might be going away for a year and a half.

While all you fraidy-cat liberals are preaching increased restrictions on gun ownership, the good-idea folks down in Missouri went ahead an nixed most of their restrictions way back in 2007. And Missouri’s homicide rate? It’s up.

Meanwhile, Virginia’s decided not to recognize other states’ concealed carry licenses.

Elon Musk and his Space X coterie finally did it. Months after one of their rockets disintegrated, SpaceX sent another into space, and successfully coaxed its engines back to a safe landing. Probably a big deal.

You’re not the only one upset with Donald Trump for being a racist. So’s his former pal Russell Simmons. Not Don King, though.

No criminal charges in the death of Sandra Bland, the young black women who authorities say took her own life in a rural Texas jail, and who quite clearly should never have been arrested to begin with.
