I’ve always thought that the politicization of masks by Trump had nothing to do with science or data or reality. Trump being Trump, I believe it had to do with something very, very simple: Him not wanting to smear his make-up.
That’s right, the 75 year old man with platinum blonde hair and a perpetual orange tan didn’t want to wear a mask because he feared smearing his make-up. So, in order to save face (literally), he had to get his mindless minions to go along with his vanity project and he politicized mask wearing. His minions being as mindless as they are, followed blindly and it became a rallying cry for the very stupid.
Protests were held, in-store tantrums were had, and some of his sheep even threatened physical violence…all because Trump, for some godforsaken reason, is extremely vain and didn’t want to smear his make-up.
In the end, Trump got his way and his make-up remained intact, and he has his loyal followers to thank for it.
