My cat has had some sort of blister or abscess for a little over two years now. I wanted to get him into a vet right away but my wife was worried about cost and after care. This is something that needs to be a mutual decision although I’m sure she knows how much this has been stressing me out. I’m basically never around because I’m always working, so I can’t be the one to stay with him if he needs someone to be there while he’s healing. Shes waited so long to finally get him an appointment and now it’s way bigger than when it started and it has become very clearly infected over the last week.
Today is the day of the appointment. Last week the car she uses got a flat and we haven’t been able to get it fixed yet, so it’s currently on the donut spare until we can. She is also sick.
So now I’m heading to work hoping that she can pull it all off and feeling miserable about it all. I should have called out so I could at least deal with the tire while she took the cat to the vet.
I’m really hoping it all works out, but there’s just so much that can go wrong and there’s so little I can do to help.
What’s the point of doing all this work if I’m not really supporting my family?—Anonymous
