Who says Halloween treats can only be consumed on October 31? Halloween is still over three weeks away, but there are already plenty of places in town to indulge in edible and chuggable holiday delights—some even within an extra-scary setting, if you dare.
The Seasonal Specials
Cheese & Crack: The Eye Scream Sundae
Dubbed one of Mercury news reporter Taylor Griggs’ favorite spots in town for soft serve, Restaurant Row’s iconic Cheese & Crack Snack Shop is serving up its famous eyeball sundae for the month of October. Bright purple ube pudding is layered with crumbled chocolate cookie, and it’s all topped off with a life-size gummy eyeball—plus plenty of blood raspberry sauce. 22 SE 28th, cheeseandcrack.com, @cheeseandcrack
Cookie McCakeFace: But, Her Finger

Butterfinger candy bars thankfully contains no fingers, but this cookie, available at Woodstock cart Cookie McCakeFace throughout October, sure does. Its peanut butter base is mixed with chopped peanuts and mini chocolate chips, then topped with a big ol’ gummy finger. Like all Cookie McCakeFace cookies, it’s served warm. Is it a middle finger? I love to be scared and offended all at once. 4727 SE Woodstock, cookiemccakeface.com, @cookiemccakeface
Doe Donuts: Dirt Cup Donut
Apparently vegan gummy worms are hard to find, so Doe Donuts conjured up their own. Wiggling atop a vegan donut, their worms rise from a delicious dirt of chocolate pudding and cookie crumbles. There are other Halloween-y plant-based treats on offer for the month of October, too, including a sour apple donut, a pumpkin spice latte-inspired donut, and ube snickerdoodle ice cream. 4110 NE Sandy, doedonuts.com, @doedonuts
Salt & Straw’s Seasonal Ice Cream Flavors
Every October, Salt & Straw unleashes its Halloween flavors. I stan the Great Candycopia, a butterscotch-based ice cream blended with scratch-made versions of your favorite Halloween chocolate candy bars. But Creepy Crawly Critters is undoubtedly the most hardcore Halloween-themed treat of them all, with a bright green matcha base full of chocolate-covered mealworms and crickets. This year, Salt & Straw’s also scooping a bright purple Witch’s Brew fruit sherbet with green swirls and orange flecks, and the vegan Chocolate Graveyard Cookie Crumble, a black cocoa ice cream with bright red and white chocolate swirls. Themed Temporary Haunts
Fear Sandy at Dear Sandy
This combination coffee shop, coworking space, and cocktail bar has gone all out for Halloween, with a complete overhaul of its decor and menus. Halloween events abound, including craft nights and tattoo pop-ups, plus a very scary bathroom. 2800 NE Sandy, dearsandypdx.com, @dearsandypdx
The Haunting on Sixth at The Social Spoon

The folks who brought you the nationwide Miracle bar pop-up have snuck into the spine-chilling season for the first time with their Haunting pop-up, which The Social Spoon will host until November 1. Scary decor pairs well with a lineup of Halloween-themed drinks, including the Clown Pear-anoia, which blends fennel, yogurt, pear, mezcal, and lemon in a creepy ceramic mug. (You, too, can take home a scary clown mug with purchase.) 550 SW Oak, thesocialspoonpdx.com, thehauntingpopup.com
Pass the Hatchet at LaVerne’s
From October 13-31, Woodlawn cocktail bar LaVerne’s will host Pass the Hatchet, a Gothic Bayou-themed pop-up. The decor takes inspiration from an eerie New Orleans swamp, with fishing nets, river creatures, and lots of moss draped throughout the space. The menu includes a blue cocktail called the Werewolf Bar Mitzvah (now the song is stuck in my head), plus relleno negro, a dish from the chef’s home region of Yucatán. 700 NE Dekum, lavernespdx.com, @lavernespdx
Wyrd Meadery’s Haunted Hall
Wyrd Leatherworks and Meadery recently opened its tasting hall—ahem, Castle Wyrd—in Milwaukie, and they’ve pulled out all the stops with their Halloween decorations. Check out the giant skeleton, the ram skull, and the spiderwebs and and candles galore, all while sipping mead made from Oregon honey in flavors like rose petal, spiced peach, and traditional semi-sweet. 13207 SE McLoughlin, Milwaukie, wyrdleatherandmead.com, @wyrd_leather_and_mead
Year-Round Frightening Food and Drink
Black Cat Frozen Custard
The owners of year-round creepy cocktail bar Raven’s Manor opened a spinoff frozen custard shop in 2025, where gremlins can order custard spun up with any of their favorite toppings for a concrete-like treat. The location also hosts a password-protected speakeasy coffee bar for those over 13 (18+ after 5:30 pm), with drinks like a pumpkin spice latte with real pumpkin and a date toffee latte. 133 SW 2nd, Suite 100, blackcatfrozencustard.com, @blackcatfrozencustard
Memento Mori Cafe
This cafe is a reliable haven for vegan witches and goths, with skull-shaped pastries and coffee, matcha, and chai drinks with names like Crypt Keeper and Wolfman. Memento Mori even hosts weekly witch meetups. But for October, they amp up their offerings with an extra Halloween-y drink menu, including a pumpkin tres leches latte, a matcha white chocolate apple drink, and blood orange lemonade. 1533 NW 24th, mementomoricafe.com, @memento.mori.cafe
Raven’s Manor
Haunted every day of the year, Raven’s Manor slings drinks like the bubbly pink Blob and the Baba Yaga, made with apple pie moonshine and carrot. For maximum impact, book Dr. Raven’s Elixir Experience, which combines a cocktail tasting with escape room puzzles. Throughout October, special events include the aerial Circus Obscura (October 14) and a costume-required party on Halloween night, all bookable online on Tock. Good luck trying to walk in without a reservation during October, though—when I tried to go last year, the line stretched down the block. 235 SW 1st, ravensmanorexperience.com, @ravensmanor
