Mike Judge is a hilarious dude, but between Office Space and Idiocracy, he doesn’t have the best track record at the box office he’s been royally and repeatedly screwed over by the gleefully incompetent folks at 20th Century Fox. So here’s a trailer for his next box office catastrophe/incredibly popular cult hit, Extract, which stars Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Kristen Wiig, and a really hairy Ben Affleck! Thankfully, Extract is being distributed by Miramax and not Fox, so maybe it’ll come out in more than seven cities.
The trailer itself? Ehhh, not so great. But based on Judge’s past record with theatrical releases—and, worse, his past record with theatrical release marketing—I’m thinking/hoping this is a so-so trailer for a pretty great movie. (Then again, I’d go see fucking anything if it had Jason Bateman and Kristen Wiig in it. Seriously, even like Fame, or Mamma Mia, or The Reader.)

I still think Idiocracy would make a good double-bill with the equally bad, yet enjoyable Americathon. Both movies rely too heavily on a narrator to move the wobbly story along, but both hilariously document the downward spiral of America.
When does the movie get made where I get to see Jason Bateman and Peter Saarsgard make out? WHEN?
Not the funniest trailer, but I have to admit, the last bit with the exhaling the bong smoke gave me a genuine chuckle. Mike Judge, the cast, enough to make me spend my money at the theater.
But yeah, all you really need is Mila Kunis, or pretty much any Mila….
Idiocracy was doomed simply because it came out the weekend after 9/11. At that time no one wanted to be told Americans are stupid.
Funny movie and deserved more attention than it received.
