Still no word back from the second campaign to Recall Sam Adams about a contract with Kevin Mannix’s signature-gathering firm, or the rent on a downtown office, unearthed by the Mercury yesterday. But there was a note out to supporters of the recall yesterday:
Portland Future PAC – The Recall Sam Adams People
10:30 AM this Friday the 5th:
Meet at 940 SW Morrison for petition pick up and training. This is at 10th and Morrison across from the Galleria. At 11 we will head one half block up to the Governor hotel (Jake’s) where Sam Adams will be giving a State of the city message to the City Club. We will be handing out petitions for others to take home as well as collecting signatures. This luncheon event is scheduled to start at 12:15. Several members of the City Club have already had petitions mailed to them as well.
Organization:
Please look over the sites below and give your feedback on what site you are willing to man and what day of the week and time.Sites identified:
* Parkrose Post Office – 4048 NE 122nd
* Multnomah Post Office – SW 35th and Vermont
* Main Library – 801 SW 10th
* Midland Library – 805 SE 122nd
* Hillsdale Library – 1525 SW Sunset Blvd
* Woodstock Library – 6008 Southeast 49th Ave
* Trader Joes – 4121 NE Halsey or 4715 SE Cesar Chavez/39th
* Pioneer Court House SquareTwo of the post office locations are near major business such as Costco and Fred’s.
Areas along 122nd SE or NE were excellent sites if they had areas where cars could easily pull up and sign. We worked four different sites along these routes with great success. All sites would be adjusted as to what areas of town are saturated or understaffed.
The idea is to consistently man these sites so people know that is the place to go. By consistent I do not mean 24/7 but that you commit to a couple of hours a week to be at these sites.
What is going on with the paid petitioners? Where is the money? We will have DETAILS on this shortly. Rest assured that this is coming and it will be wonderful news. As an impatient person myself, the wait will be worth it.

Looking forward to those “DETAILS,” guys. And if you could have your leader return our phone calls, it’d be a good start on the organization front.

Maybe if we just ignore them, they’ll go away.
Mr. Davis,
Is there a limit to how many times people can try to recall Adams?
Who just pulls up and signs a petition while driving on a major street? While driving on ANY street?
@tsw: Certainly not a bicyclist. But then, that’s part of the issue here.
@DLS 3.0: They get as many goes as they like. Although some would argue that a failed second effort might make a third try…RIDICULOUS. Although many did argue that about the first effort, and it’s not stopped them.
I like tk’s idea, alas I don’t think it’s working.
I all ready “accidentally” “bumped into” one of them last recall effort, spilling my hot coffee all over their clipboard.
I sure was sorry about that. Honest.
Thanks, that does seem ridiculous… They had one shot. Seems like there should be a statue of limitations.
If the mercury thinks the recall recall is such a crock why all the exposure? I’m sure the recall people love the free media;)
@blackcat: You’d think so, except that the recall people refuse to talk to the Mercury.
@jackattak:
I wonder if you can pull a Mercury Blogtown noontime coffee break together that happens to be where they will be at.
Can we start a petition that says, if this recall fails, they can’t start another petition…
Maybe I should start carrying anti-recall signs in case I run into these guys on NE/SE 122nd. Sigh. Especially at the library. Especially while I’m riding my bike.
